Handmade Cinema headed out into the Peak District to Longshaw Estate for a special autumnal screening of Fantastic Mr. Fox. We teamed up with Moorland Discovery Centre to present an animation workshop and immersive cinema event right in the heart of Derbyshire. Audiences enjoyed a screening of Wes Anderson’s stop motion animation alongside craft activities, pottery making workshops and a nature trail on the estate. We enjoyed pot painting and firing workshops with local ceramicist Mike Scown. Mike uses a fast-firing process called raku, which means audiences painted a pot and then saw it being fired right before their eyes. Plus, intrepid explorers set out on a nature trail in the woods to look for some of the creatures that appear in the film.

“A great focus that builds on children’s interests – especially boys.”
