Up and Moonrise

In memory of scout leader Pat Duggan, scout troops in the Burngreave area joined forces with Handmade Cinema to present an immersive screening of Disney favourite, Up. Based on the fact one of the main characters in Up is a scout, we decided to infiltrate a scout hut for an afternoon of events. The hut was adorned with lots of helium balloons a mini paper mache zeppelin and mini “Kevin birds” that the scouts had made before the event. On entering the venue, attendees could pick up their own neckerchief (if they didn’t have one already!) And scouts could add to their badge collection by creating new ones on the craft table. In addition, there was picture frame crafting, face painting and balloon themed crafts and kids enjoyed modelling balloons into hats, dogs, swords and a whole array of shapes. A plentiful supply of popcorn and scout badge cupcakes kept everyone satisfied and the scouts also got to enjoy watching their own mini films that were played alongside the main film.
